Mykonos perfume review
Reviewing a local perfume line which I recently got into and collected.
Amidst local perfume lovers boycotting Zara & other big brands in the BDS list like M&S, H&M etc someone on Twitter/X listed down some brands of local perfumes worth trying in a thread. Around the same time Blibli recommended me something from Mykonos, their Matcha Latte fragrance, & I purchased the 50ml bottle at a discount (around Rp150K-ish). Since then I’ve started sorta collecting Mykonos fragrances for now, buying them preloved or secondhand as much as possible, trying to find if some scents are good dupes of famous scents from the list of banned brands, or if they’re original unique scents, just trying them out.
Matcha Latte
I absolutely love this one, being a fan of scents that smell like food & drinks. It definitely smells like matcha latte. My sister who’s a matcha latte fan even said this smells like an actual matcha drink & not the classic green tea smell at all. It’s creamier & milkier. An office friend who tried this even said the smell lasts a day on her skin, having tried it the day before & took a shower in the morning and when she came into the office the smell is still there.
This scent is perfect for mall outings especially when you and the besties order drinks at cafes or drink stalls.
Mykonos also has another matcha smell called Matcha Sundays, though not in perfume form, more of a body mist tbh.
Adelina
I bought this one secondhand from someone in Shopee for just under Rp100K, which I thought was gonna be a dupe of Zara Rose Marshmallow Candy (I had this one as a birthday gift) I need to find a preferably local dupe of it, and since Fragrantica and other Youtube reviewers said it smells similar to Kilian’s Love Don’t Be Shy and Parfums De Marly’s Oriana, I found out that Mykonos Adelina is an Oriana dupe.
To my disappointment it doesn’t smell anything like Rose Marshmallow Candy, I was kinda disappointed. However it smells like one of the perfumes from Scarlett & also a BrunBrun perfume.
Rose Marshmallow Candy is supposed to be a Killian Love Dont Be Shy dupe (both LDBS & Oriana are similar) but the notes are different so I dont think it's an exact dupe, and LDBS is so hard to find here idk if I’ll ever know what it smells like.
Also funny that Adelina is an Oriana dupe but the name is similar to Delina, another Parfums De Marly perfume in the same line as Oriana. The tagline “smell like a princess” fits cuz this sweet candy fruity smell does make you think of someone who’s super girly and kinda rich at the same time, or just wants to live a lavish life. However it’s not really my signature smell so I use this at home most of the time.
Bonfire Vanilla
This here’s the third Mykonos perfume I owned (second one thats bought secondhand, also below Rp100K). This might be a good dupe to By The Fireplace by Replica (Maison Martin Margiela) and if you wanna smell like old money. make this one of your choices.
Smells more like burnt wood than vanilla. Kinda like some sort of Arabic perfume (probably cuz of the woody smell) so at first you'd imagine your dad going for a Friday prayer in the mosque, but my female cousin actually likes the smell, reminds her of toast. Both my family's and office friends’ opinions are kinda swayed between feminine & masculine, so I'm guessing it's a unisex scent.
Also like Matcha Latte, the smell is rather strong and long lasting which is why I like it.
Sometime later I got 2 more Mykonos perfumes cuz my sister bought them from someone else via jastip. Here are two more fan favorites:
Pink Beach
Their go-to summer scent, the main notes being watermelon, kiwi & other tropical fruits. Supposedly this is a dupe of D&G L’imperiatrice, and to an extent, Zara’s Cherry Watermelon Ice cuz I really love its fresh fruity smell. I bought this one not only because I love watermelon smells but also to see if it’s a good dupe of Cherry Watermelon Ice.
And just like Adelina, to my disappointment, Pink Beach smells nothing like Cherry Watermelon Ice. Previously my friend from Maldives gifted me a 5ml sample of L’imperiatrice which I almost finished, and Pink Beach smells closer to it although not exactly.
Additionally some office friends mentioned that it smells like old Eskulin colognes from our childhood/teenhood.
Aphrodite
Another one that everyone talks about so much, cuz this smells L U X U R I O U S. Like its name it gives off a sensual, sexy, goddess-y kinda vibe, and it’s also pretty unique cuz it’s got tobacco, myrrh and some spicy & woodsy scents which I don’t remember. Like Bonfire Vanilla, Aphrodite smells really strong and sometimes 3-5 squirts would do just fine & last hours. In a Youtube review video someone mentioned it might be a dupe of some Arab perfume with a name I can’t remember.
Baby Love
This one isn’t for myself, I bought it for my sister as a late birthday present cuz in the previous month I bought a perfume for my other sister which I thought smells similar to this one, but Baby Love smells closer to baby shampoo/soap whereas the previous perfume smells like baby powder. It’s got floral notes at the top, middle and base like violet & rose. All my sisters aren’t big fans of strong smells, though their signature scents are all different. I remember buying a Zwitsal body mist & they really liked it. This one definitely smells similar. It’s gotta be the violet & peony notes, though i put my bets on the heliotrope.
